Hawkeswater at The River is a community of 413 single-unit homes (329 detached homes & 84 Townhomes). Each 2nd Tuesday of the month, at 6:00 p.m. EST, the elected Board of Directors of the Homeowner’s Association hosts a Community Input meeting. An annual year-end meeting takes place for budget and planning decisions.

All members of the Board of Directors and members of the committees are volunteers.

  • Hawkeswater is serviced by the Leland, NC Post Office (28451). This neighborhood is not in Leland or Belville.
  • It is in Brunswick County (Voting Precinct: Belville 1)
  • Water & Sanitation provided by H2GO
  • Electricity provided by either Brunswick Power or Duke Power (based on your address in the community)

There are 12 Stormwater Retention Ponds in the community, and we have direct Brunswick River access. Yes, there are alligators – which are protected by the North Carolina Wildlife Commission. For the most part –“You leave them alone – They’ll leave you alone!

Research is currently underway to have a better understanding of who was here before us. Preliminary information has this area as part of the Buchoi Plantation on the Plantations of the Lower Cape Fear 1725-1860. (see 19)
